..
Research + staying informed has changed from
  • searching - to
  • selecting sources
Get started:
While there are many ways to get info sent to you, these are easiest for a busy professional:
Google Alerts in your inbox - some helpful ideas from Google (click link here)

Twitter feed on your mobile - tips on searching on Twitter (click link here) - find + follow experts

Pro Shortcuts
  • Google alerts - if you don't get at least 2 quality sources per day, change the search terms - add a qualifier.  It may take a week or 2 to craft the right selection of terms.
    • Play with terms until you have the right combo for results
  • I use Alerts to 'qualify' sources for Twitter follows - if I am getting new, relevant info, I then follow on Twitter + view headlines on my mobile Twitter.
Finding experts and value-added sources:

Use your Gmail account to set up a Google Plus personal page (view video), if you wish to use Google + to follow experts, topics or join circles.
  • Google + and Twitter - use #searchterm to identify digitally active sources
    • Example #hotelmarketing - Twitter
    • Example #hotelmarketing - Google +
OK, now that you have started getting info sent, you are ready to keep it under control with some organizing tools.
